Thank You Water

AquaZone was born at Burning Man in 2005 as a bar that serves only water.

While the desert environment itself highlighted the vital importance of water, we created a cool blue oasis on the Playa, served precious shots of water, and challenged participants to taste-test different varieties of water from around the world. As we’ve expanded our consciousness of water as a vehicle for positive intention, our camp has evolved into the AquaZone Healing Oasis Water Bar and Recharge Center, an oasis of well-being incorporating intention-infused water with other forms of healing and recharging such as reiki, massage, and chiropractic services offered with love to all.

The heart of AquaZone is the Love Water Bar where we continue to serve intention-infused water at each year’s Burning Man festival. Our bar sparkles with blue bottles brimming with myriad water varieties, each decorated with a different word of Positive Intention, like Love, Hope, Peace, Bliss, Courage, and FUCK YES!, to name a few.

The theory, as originally advanced by Dr. Masuru Emoto, is that water absorbs the energy of the words written on it. As we read the words, our consciousness of the word infuses the water with its energy so when we drink that water we take that energy into our bodies. We still serve water in precious shots, inviting participants to consider what intention they’d like to set for their day/evening/week. Many create their own intention “cocktails,” ie. a shot of Love with a splash of Vitality and Frisky. The Love Water Bar is staffed by camp members, and often by volunteers, and is open nearly 24 hours throughout the event. Even when no one is behind the bar, we keep several large self-service water dispensers constantly full so people can refill their canteens at any time.

Our oasis, outfitted entirely in watery colors with blue and white lights and ambient water sounds to create a soothing sanctuary from the parched desert, is a destination that many people and art cars come back to again and again, bringing their friends and family to share in the calm atmosphere and to renew their intentions with Water. We take pride in providing this public service to all the citizens of Black Rock City and have poured over 600 gallons during the hottest week.
